Tycen and I enjoyed our last day of alone time this morning. The first graders in our district start school a day later than everyone else. I was once told that if you think it's hard sending your first child to school, wait until you have to send your last. My heartstrings are officially tugged. My baby is off to the big wide world. And he couldn't be more excited about it.

We celebrated with a trip to Subway after the 45 minute 1st grade orientation. (I'm beginning to feel like a pro at 1st grade orientation, by the way, and just in time for me to retire from them.) When we were ordering he paused and we had the following conversation.

Him: "Mommy, I don't want you to drink diet coke anymore."
Me: "Why?"
Him: "Kelly says it's really bad for a woman's bones and I don't want you to break anything."

I suppose it's time to revisit that longstanding habit. But on today? OF ALL DAYS? Come on now.

ps- By early afternoon he and I were in a good ol' fashioned yelling argument about the Wii. Yup. Time for school it is.

It's funny how the heart strings can be tugged in so many directions. One minute they make you weepy, and the next you're ready to ship them out! Hope his first day is a blast for you both!
P.S. My verification word is "forns" and I just don't like it, especially this early in the morning.

The babies of the family are big boys now... that is until the age old argument over the wii comes up.
I was just thinking about how Andrew is so committed to giving me a goodbye kiss every morning in front of his peers and being heartbroken the day he decides he too old for it.

until then, hooray for school!
